When Kaecilius led a splinter group away from the ancient order, they stole pages from the Book of Cagliostro in the Library of Kamar-Taj and escape through the gate to the London Sanctum. Master Sol Rama acted as the last master and guardian of the London Sanctum. It had a fixed dimensional portal connecting it to Kamar-Taj in Nepal and a more conventional entrance on a busy street in the heart of London. Along with the New York Sanctum and the Hong Kong Sanctum, the London Sanctum acted as a planet-wide mystical defensive ward and as a base from which the Masters of the Mystic Arts conducted their activities. Earth's Mightiest Heroes' first collective mission was in the middle of the Big Apple hence why it's called the Battle of New York.The London Sanctum was one of three Sanctums created by Agamotto and maintained by the Masters of the Mystic Arts.
Captain America: Civil War, on the other hand, featured Lagos, Nigeria, Germany, and Siberia.
Avengers: Age of Ultron featured action sequences in Johannesburg, South Africa and Busan, South Korea. This concept was adapted in the MCU with the Avengers' adventures mostly taking place in various locations on Earth. Spider-Man is from Queens and the Fantastic Four's Baxter Building is in Manhattan, while the X-Mansion is in Upstate New York. This can help heroes feel grounded in reality, and bring readers closer to their favourite characters. Marvel is known for using real-world locations in its narratives. After its first three Phases, collectively known as the Infinity Saga, ended, it's now building a brand new narrative, including the Multiverse-creating Loki and Phase 4. The MCU has been thriving since 2008 and it doesn't show any signs of slowing down. Over the years, Marvel Studios has introduced a string of fictional locations from the Marvel comics to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
